Quite a few Christians ask themselves what God has actually called them to. What can I do for the Lord with my life?

Be assured: there is something unique that only you alone can do. Be a blessing to others – to the people directly around you.

In Genesis 12:2, for example, God says to Abraham: "And I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing“.

In Proverbs 11:11 we read what influence we as children of God have on our city: "By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted!" In another translation it says: "…a city is lifted up".

We read a very beautiful promise of blessing in Ephesians 1:3: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ."

Your life is set so that you have received blessing from God, and he has called you to let this blessing flow out from you into your immediate surroundings. Look around: you see a world that urgently needs you and what God has placed in your life. You are a gift to this world. Be a blessing to others.

And I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
