You surely know sentences like: "My prayer didn't help" or "The prayer just hangs there under the ceiling." Such statements usually arise because the situations are so overwhelming, the circumstances, pains, or illnesses last so long, and it looks as if there is no solution.

In recent days Sigrid engaged once again afresh with the subject of "prayer." The Lord surprised her in the process with an interesting question. She gives a vivid account of a prayer experience that can encourage you not to look at what has simply not yet come to pass right now, but to look in faith at what the Lord will nevertheless and still do — because he has promised it to you.

[God promises:] Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. He calls to me, and I answer him.
