There were, and still are: bringers of salvation who call themselves messiah, savior, redeemer, or God outright, who let themselves be honored, revered, and worshiped by their followers. Even within a Christian context there is a surprisingly large number of them.

In this second part on false messiahs, Martin turns to the fake redeemers within Christianity. They claim, for example, that Jesus was not able to properly complete his mandate and his work, and that they are the ones now commissioned by God to finish the work. In the meantime there are bringers of salvation who have positioned themselves within a Christian environment and have managed to gather many thousands, indeed sometimes millions, of followers around themselves.
