But exactly the same thing, according to the Bible, applies to the seventh year. It is the Sabbath year, a holy year, a year of rest, unique, set apart, and distinguished from the other six. This seventh year is called the "Shmita year." Many have heard the term "Shmita" before, but for others it is completely new and unfamiliar.
