Fire is a recurring image in the Bible. It symbolizes the Word, angels, Israel—and it symbolizes God myself. Fire is a sign of His immediate presence, His mighty deeds, His judgment. When He reveals Himself, He is often surrounded by fire; fire emanates from Him, and He Himself even becomes described as a consuming fire.
Jesus Christ is the one who baptizes in the fire of God, the Holy Spirit. It is this fire that must burn within you and me. The fire of Pentecost changed the first disciples forever, and it will change us, too. Martin wants you to inspire enthusiasm for the fire of the Holy Spirit. Stretch out afterward!
