Imagine an immeasurably menacing, bottomless chasm. On one side of it is the world system; on the other, the Kingdom of God. The chasm is insurmountable and symbolizes man's separation from God, caused by sin. But there is a large bridge that spans the gorge – just one. It is the cross of Jesus, which spans the vast abyss. For every person, the most important thing in life is to cross this bridge: out of the realm of the world, of misery, and of captivity, and onto the bridge of redemption, salvation, and new birth.
