When people hear the word “temptation,” many think of sensual aspects, such as food or sexuality. But these are only small parts of what the Bible means by it. There are other areas that can be far more dangerous because many people view them as harmless. Yet that is precisely where the Seduction: it portrays something dangerous as harmless or even positive.

One of the worst temptations of the end times lies in the fact that many Christians believe the world is “generally good,” that reputable institutions are committed to the truth, and that today’s rulers have been appointed by God as authorities. Anyone who believes this has already been led astray. Jesus Himself warns that temptations will come (Matthew 18:7), yet He does not leave us helpless— The truth of His Word can set us free from the enemy’s lies about religious authority.
