In the Old Testament, a marriage was usually brought about by the father a man's marriage through negotiations with the father of a young woman arranged a bride for his son, who was the groom. To this end, he usually sent a representative who arranged everything for him. In Genesis 24, we find such a situation, which has been handed down to us with striking attention to detail—indeed, with remarkable accuracy. Why is that, exactly?

Martin talks about the event—which took place a good 4,000 years ago—that serves as a prophetic image, a foreshadowing, of something exceptionally important that has to do directly with each of us on a very personal level. For each of the characters in this ancient story—Abraham, Isaac, Rebekah, and the servant who was sent—has profound prophetic significance. It is about the Bride of Jesus – that is, us.
