In the ancient Greco-Roman world, public speeches, loud statements, and emotional outbursts in marketplaces and at gatherings were normal and commonplace. It was an oral culture in which the voice and volume were central means of communication. Words should not only inform, but also move, stir, and evoke empathy. Jesus, too, must have had a loud, well-trained voice, since He spoke 5,000 men, plus women and children, without modern technology.

On numerous occasions, Scripture calls on us to raise our voices as well—indeed, to let them ring out clearly and loudly. Martin has said the following in this regard: studies and examines the Word of God to see what it has to say about speaking loudly, shouting, cheering, and rejoicing. And that's really amazing …

Blessed is the people that cheer They can! YHWH, they will walk in the light of your presence; they will rejoice in your name day after day and be glorified in your righteousness.
Psalm 89:16–17

God has more for you!
