Today, Sigrid is going with you to The Exciting Early Days of the First Church. Jews and Gentiles who had come to faith gathered together. Discipleship, devotion, mercy, and the uncompromising proclamation of the Gospel were the goal and focus of these early Christians. They lived out what the Bible calls “Christ’s letter” (2 Corinthians 3:3). They praised God and were well-liked by all the people.

What we read about a woman named Dorcas is impressive and worthy of emulation – and that applies to us today as well. She was talented, generous, well-liked, and deeply involved in the congregation. Her life was her ministry; there was no distinction between the two. Then she died suddenly. But that wasn't the end of the story. She, who was “rich in mercy,” was to continue through her life to a living testimony to the power of God ...the one who had the power to save from death…
