One of the best-known events in the New Testament is The Account of the Woman with the Issue of Blood. Her name is not mentioned, because suffering from a hemorrhage had become part of her identity. The story is set against the backdrop of the raising of Jairus’s daughter from the dead and offers there are a few things we can learn from this. Interesting: both reports deal with touch.

In what social situation—or “box”—was the woman? What did it mean to be unclean, and Why was what she did life-threatening? What is the significance of the tallit (prayer shawl) and the tassel? Why was it important to touch them? Why did Jesus tell her that her own faith had healed her? And what does that mean for you here and now?

Daughter, your faith comes has healed you. Go in peace!
