Week 3 – In Demonstration of the Spirit and of Power
When we are commissioned by the Holy Spirit to do certain things and we follow His promptings, the Word of God promises us that we act in the empowerment and authority of the kingdom of God. And very often what God requires of us is simply to be obedient and faithful to what He has already commissioned us to do.
Yet quite often our circumstances stand against it, our expectations, the whole situation. It does not look at all as though God wants to use us in this way ... or we have no desire, no courage, no intention, to let ourselves be used by Him in such a way. For the time that lies ahead, however, it is of the utmost importance to be led by the Spirit of God and to carry out His promptings in obedience.
With Holy Communion—please prepare.
My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith may not rest on human wisdom but on God's power.
