In Deuteronomy 28—the list of blessings and curses for God’s people—we find something remarkable for us as Christians living in German-speaking Europe today. Moses warned, that those among God's people who do not serve Yahweh with joy and a glad heart are under a curse. This means that a lack of joy and enthusiasm for the Lord is actually a sign that something is wrong. The loss of joy serves as a prophetic warning … and should lead to a change of course.
