Why is it actually so important that we keep recalling the testimonies and accounts of the Bible to mind? Yes, more than that, why should we tell them, recount them, and talk about them? Psalm 78 helps us understand why this is so important for us … and for the following generation…

What we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us , we will not hide from their sons and from the coming generation, but will tell the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their sons, that they should,
make them known
to the coming generation, the sons yet to be born, so that they arise and tell them to their sons.

they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God but keep his commandments.
Psalm 78:3-7

When we read the testimonies and accounts of the Bible and grasp their depth in our spirit, they serve us for encouragement and for orienting our lives. They help us align ourselves with the great plans of God. They strengthen our trust that God is at our side, amid dark days and amid bright days; amid worry and amid joy. Yes, he is present in the midst of all the things that make up our lives.

When we grasp that, it has an effect on our family, our descendants, and the people we encounter. And: if you have your own, personal testimony of what you have experienced with God, then by all means pass it on.

All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD, and all your saints shall bless you! They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power, to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
