Prayer does not mean presenting to God everything he is supposed to do for us. It is not a "to-do list" for God. Some prayers sound almost like an attempt to compel God to do something he does not actually want to do at all, but that we would like him to do for us

I do not believe that is the kind of prayer we find in the New Testament. For the Spirit of Jesus lives in us, and we are called to be kings and priests. This high position also certainly means that God does not simply do for us what he wants us to carry out ourselves, while we comfortably lean back.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light
1 Peter 2:9

Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us; we implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God!
