The enemy tries continually to attack the promises of God, to hinder them, and to make them impossible. This applies in great matters as well as small.

Everyone among the people saw that what God had prophetically promised — a rescuer, a redeemer, a messiah from the line of David — had become completely impossible. Over! Done! Finished! The ungodly system had triumphed.

But the situation had by no means slipped out of God's hands — and suddenly there was a dramatic surprise.
