Part 1 of the three-part sermon series by Randy Kay at the "heavenward" conference in Rotenburg an der Fulda.

Randy Kay, a successful manager and confirmed agnostic, tells how a rejection of God arose in him early on — triggered by church hypocrisy. As a student he tried to scientifically disprove religions using a computer program, but one religion, Christianity, proved unshakeable. But at some point the Lord drew him to himself, and Randy was converted to Jesus Christ.

He describes his death experience after a medical emergency involving multiple pulmonary embolisms and tells how he died in the hospital, was dead for over 30 minutes, and experienced an impressive journey into heaven that felt to him like a years-long visit. There he encountered Jesus, was enveloped in light, and experienced God's deep grace.

In heaven the Holy Spirit showed him stations of his life as life reviews: formative childhood experiences, moments of pain, but also hidden situations of divine protection. Especially moving is the account of his encounter with a boy suffering from cancer, who said to him: "I'm praying that you too will one day come to heaven." That prayer was answered — unexpectedly, and years later.
