One of the unshakable fundamental truths of the Bible is the teaching about eternal life—or eternity in general.

Eternity, however, is something we cannot truly imagine. For eternity is more than just an endless succession of long periods of time. Eternity is not time. Time will come to an end—eternity will remain. Death will end—life will remain. Suffering will end—joy will remain.

Martin is certain: Nothing is more terrible than being separated from God for all eternity; nothing is more glorious and fulfilling than being united with Him. There will not be a single second of boredom, desolation, or regret in the heavenly realm. Boredom is something that belongs to fallen creation, just as pain, suffering, hardship, dissatisfaction, and sin do.

Let yourself be drawn into a sermon on a topic as unusual as it is important: eternity.

in the hope of eternal life, that the true God had already, even before for all eternity has promised

So that everyone who believes in him, eternal life I have. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish, but eternal life has.
