I am always so grateful that I can read God's letter to me—the Bible. It was written for me and for you.

Don’t set this letter aside, or you’ll miss out on some very important things that are meant to enrich your life. For example, the fact that God’s “But” is written over your life, your challenges, your situation, your pain, and your anxious and discouraged thoughts.
You would miss out on the fact that there really is that very personal “But God” in your life.

Something struck me about Paul’s letters to Timothy. Timothy often needed encouragement to cope with the many difficulties he faced in the church. And time and again, the letters say, “But you…!”

I underlined that "but you."

"But you “… Take care of yourself and your studies; stick with it all!”
1 Timothy 4:15

But you, Man of God, flee from it! Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith! Lay hold of the eternal life to which you have been called!
1 Timothy 6:11-12

But you … Let the fire of God’s gift—which is within you through the laying on of my hands—burn once more. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, love, and self-control!
2 Timothy 1:6

But you“… And now, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus!”
2 Timothy 2:1

But you… Keep in mind what I'm saying: the Lord will give you the right insight in all things!
2 Timothy 2:7

But you… Always keep Christ in mind—he who, descended from the line of David, was raised from the dead—that is the Gospel I proclaim…!
2 Timothy 2:8

But you …Instead, pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with all who call upon the Lord with a sincere heart.
2 Timothy 2:22

But you … you have followed my example in teaching and conduct, in all my endeavors, in faith, in patience, in love, and in perseverance, in persecution and suffering…
2 Timothy 3:10
