Jesus spoke very emphatically to His disciples about the promise of something entirely new – the Holy Spirit. He systematically prepared them for Pentecost. For the most precious thing the Father could give was and is the Holy Spirit. Jesus presented Him to the disciples as something new, as unique, precious, helpful and absolutely necessary for them.

That goes for us, too! It’s so important that the Holy Spirit works through us—it’s not just an optional icing on the cake, but the fundamental prerequisite for our life as children of God. For only where the Spirit is given room will the Kingdom of God be revealed.
