God Is Doing New Things

Think of a farmer who worked his field in spring. He has prepared the soil, ploughed, harrowed, sown and fertilised it. Now he knows that he can safely leave the field to itself for the coming months. He knows with certainty that what he has sown will grow. He does not even need to activate his faith for that. It is entirely natural and self-evident, that it grows. The growth is no longer up to him.

Yet many children of God find it hard to understand the principle of sowing and reaping, of planting and bearing fruit correctly. These, however, are the conditions God has appointed for growth of every kind – natural as well as spiritual.

With Holy Communion—please prepare.

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord! Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You too be patient, strengthen your hearts!
James 5:7-8
