Week 34 – Times of Refreshing Come from the Presence of the Lord
In his second sermon in the Book of Acts, Peter speaks of _“times of refreshment”_. The Greek word he uses for refreshment is anapsyxis. It appears only once in the Bible. Literally, it means refreshment, cooling, or relief after a time of strain. A person is revitalized after great exertion, exhaustion, drought, or distress; they regain their strength.
The root of the word refers to catching one’s breath again, to breathing a sigh of relief after a time of distress, and to the restoration of vitality. We can therefore also speak of invigoration, revival, and revitalization—of “revival”!
So repent and turn to the Lord, so that your sins may be blotted out and times of refreshment may come from the presence of the Lord
