Since sunset on August 24, we have been in the Hebrew month of Elul, the last month according to the secular calendar.

Rabbinic tradition states that this month was traditionally the time when “the king is in the field.” It's harvest time and he comes out of his palace—to which few have access—and goes out to his people, to the harvesters who to deal with directly and immediately can.
